This is a photograph I took in summer of 2020 while Michigan waited for our lockdown to be lifted. It was a dark time for a lot of us that were displaced and shut down. I was fortunate to be in the country on my grandmother’s lake. I would sit and think, and hope, and wait for some sign that things would get better. What better sign than this? The sun beam after a storm breaking through.

I’ve discovered how art can be used to heal, express feelings, invoke emotions, and change your perspective on the life going on around you.
